MOTHER NATURE,IS ANYONE LISTENING? NC TORNADOES.

We live just east of Colerain,NC just about 6-8 miles. I sat on my front porch and watch the dark sky's and the continuous flashes of lighting that seem to last forever. I knew that the people around Colerain was really going through hell. All the time not knowing if it would cross the Chowan river and hit us next. I have been through quit a few hurricanes but I never seen and heard the sky so angry.

I know the fear that was in our hearts waiting to see if it would come our way and could only imagine the hell the people around Colerain were going through. Our hearts rushed as the wind got very still and from past experience with hurricanes it was the moment of indecision on what to do next. Stay or go,but where? I watch the flag on the flagpole for a sign of wind direction and then the flag began to waver with the direction pointing north.

The tornado would head northerly from us and not cross the river. For a moment I was relieved but then my mind went back to my friends across the river knowing the hell they must be going through and not being able to help them. Mother Nature was really angry that night. Our heart's and prayers go out to them for the night that we won't forget for a very long time. Ur friends from across the river. Bill & Thelma

HOMELESS WOMAN ON THE STREETS.

I just saw a news clip on CNN that shows women mostly elderly living on the streets of NY. Few things really bother me but this really did. These are someones mothers,grandmothers and daughters. Its hard to watch these women eating out of garbage cans, sleeping in doorways or under brides.
I can't remember being so disgusted with our government and the American people allowing this to be happening in this country. We send Billions to other countries overseas to rebuild their countries while we have the elderly women eating out of garbage cans. They have no homes, It seems that we as Americans don't care. Whats happened to our Faith and Morality in this country? We just don't seem to care about each other anymore. Maybe we need to show the world these pictures of elderly women eating from garbage cans and sleeping in doorways and under brides and show them the real United States Of American instead of all these pictures of how great this country really is and it is such a wonderful place to live.
Every American should be ashamed of our government and greedy Corporations for letting this go on in our country. Men, veterans and teenagers living on the streets are bad enough but when it comes to elderly women that's the straw that breaks the camels back. They showed an elderly women in a wheelchair with everything she owned hanging from it and the weather was 15 degrees outside. It brought tears to my eyes to see  how far this country has deteriorated. We sit in our warm heated homes worrying about a loaf of bread going up in price by 10-15% while we have elderly women on the streets in this country that don't even have a slice of bread to eat. I am as guilty as the rest of American people for not speaking up to my congressmen and woman along with our senate and president. I can't give much but I know whatever I give to help my fellow Americans will be a help. It scares the Hell out of me to think someday that may be my sister,mother or grandmother out there on the streets of this Country begging for food and living in doorways and under bridges. BM

WE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA.

Will we survive the mess the country is in? Sometimes I wonder about all these entitlements that we receive. Are they really necessary? I'm talking about the programs like the prescription drug program, health care programs and all the others. The only ones that really benefit are the insurance companies. Maybe if we didn't have these programs maybe the doctors and hospitals could lower their prices by not having to fill out all the government and insurance forms to get paid.
It sure would cut out all the fraud in the system. Well it's just one old man's thoughts. I also wonder about a national lottery where the drawings where held once a month. There wouldn't be just one winner but many winners ever month. Lets say 40% goes to prizes,10-15% go to the cost of the program and the reminder to go into a defecit fund to pay it down. Tickets would be $1.00 and the prizes would be one maximum prize of $50,000 per winner divided by the amount of dollars in the 40% prize money which would equal alot of winners every month. I think alot of people would like a chance to win $ 50,000 on a $1.00 ticket. I hope you understand what I trying to say.
Anyhow just a thought. I think this program would help a lot of people and our defecit in the trouble times. Thanks for reading this blog. SAD

ARE WE ALONE?

My son gets a kick out of this discussion when we have them. He really gets a kick out of talking about UFO'S. He always ask me if they are in outer space why haven't they landed or try and contact us. I tell him what space traveler with any sense would want to land on a world were everybody trying to destroy each other.
A world were the human inhabitants are determine  on detroying thier own planet. Were they have slowly been destroying the air,natural resourses,freshwater, oceans and each other. A planet were people take all mother nature has to offer but gives nothing back in return. We know our planet is already over populated and still growing.
We also know that mother earths resources can't last forever but there are alot of the human race that don't seem to care. They the aliens are probably waiting for us to do ourselfs in. Just think what a world this would be if we took all the money and resourses we spend on killing each other an applied it to the human race and mother nature.As long as the aliens watch and see all the hate and wars on this planet and the self destruction we are headed for would you go to a place like that I don't think so. Are we alone? Who really knows. SAD

SENIORS CAN FIND WAYS TO CUT COST.

You know with everything on the rise we all must find ways to cut our cost of living. We all know its tough to do but I have found a few ways that may help depending on ur state. I found out some states have a law I suppose its a law but not sure that if you are 65 and older you can get your property tax cut in half.

I heard about it and then I check into it an sure enough I was able to have my property tax cut in half by going down to the tax accessors office. It wasn't much but it help lower my mortgage payment. They installed a fire hydrant within a 1000 feet of my home so I call my home ins co and they lowered my yearly preminum
by 20 %. Well as we say every little bit helps. I service my heating,hot water and cooking with propane gas and we know how these prices have been rising so I though I would buy a electric oil heater and see if that made a different.
Able to turn my thermostat down I have been able to make my propane last longer and saw a little increase in my electic bill but it was still cheaper then a gallion of propane. If you have any ideas on how to help seniors save a little on thier monthly home cost let us know ur secrets we can all use the help. SAD

Balance the budget!!

I wonder sometimes how serious our gov is about balancing the budget. A thought came to mind what about giving all gov employee's a week off a month w/o pay  including Washington's congress and senate.
Excluding the military and emergency service's.
I wonder how much effect that would have on the budget and help our deficit or better yet all gov employees take a 15% cut in pay and benefits including Washington . Wouldn't be nice to see our gov make a move like that to show the American people they are in it with us.
How about cutting the prescription drug program. The Pharmaceutical companies are making a killing off  the seniors maybe without them the prices would return to normal. I went to my doctor last week and talked with him about the cost of the visit then I asked him what type of discount he would give me for cash payment.
I was shocked when he said a 35% cut, well I paid buy cash because that way he didn't have to fight and argue with medicare or the insurance co. I just wonder if we dropped medicare and went back to the old days when you dealt with the doctor and hospitals not medicare and insurance co how much would the cost go down. It does make you wonder about it. Who really controls the health of American people? We know for sure it's not the morons in Washington. SAD

HERE WE GO AGAIN!

Here we go again. The middle class and lower are being asked again to bail out our government by allowing them to make cuts in our entitlement's. The seniors today have had their social security benefits already cut by not receiving a cost of living increase for the last two years.
But it seems unfair the government including the congress and senate give themselves a cost of living raise. I guess they must pay a different cost for the same things we have to pay for. They say they will cut their operating expenses by ten percent yet every politician claims their office always return fifteen percent to the government at the end of of the year. So the way I look at it is they end up with a five percent raise. Other words instead of returning the fifteen percent now they only have to return ten percent.
Why do millionaire's like Warren Buffet and others receive social security monthly retirement checks.
I can see why they laugh about it. I would think anybody who lets say would have a net income after they reach the retirement of age 65 of $200.000.00 should not be in titled to social security checks unless their income falls below a net income $ 100,000.00 a year.
Just think how that money put back in social security would help the fund.
How about prisoners in our prisons receiving monthly social security checks I heard that is happening. We seniors have paid into social security all our working lives we didn't give the government permission to take money out of the fund and replace it with worst less paper. The government is the one that is destroying the social security fund. They withdrew money from the fund with no intentions of ever putting it back.
Now the seniors will have to be the ones to suffer.
This has gone on for almost 30 years or more. Will the piggy bank is about Empty. So now they are trying
to push the blame on everyone else but were it belongs. So the American seniors and middle class
and lower class will be the ones to suffer again. SAD
